I am a Multipreneur

I am a Multipreneur!

There! I've said it! Out loud and to all of you, so now it's time to come clean.

I am not a one-trick pony. I do not just do one thing. I am very good at, and love doing many, many things, including sharing my story with you. It's not because I'm scattered and unfocused, it's because I thrive when I have multiple projects on the go and I am at my best when my work allows me to use all of my talents, not just one of them.

Carey Green, a fellow Multipreneur, has a really great post on the 5 character traits of the multipreneur. They are:

  1. Ambition
The Grace of God got me out of the pit of drug addiction and onto a path more suited to my talents.  With God's help, I discovered my ambitions; it's what got me started with my own business over twelve years ago and it's what got me through school in my 40s when I decided it was time to earn my Bachelor and then Master degrees.
  2. A drive to figure things out.
My drive to figure things out stems back to the first time I sat down with a computer in the mid 90s. Long before I studied to be a graphic and website designer, I taught myself how to write html from an "HTML for Dummies" book. When I wanted to learn how to make my own soap and skin lotions, I figured it out with Google research and YouTube videos. When I wanted to make decorations and crafts, I did the same thing. I love learning new skills
  3. Varied talents and/or interests.
People sometimes mistake me for scattered because my talents and interests are all over the place. This is not the case; when I am focused on a project, I give it my full attention, but I get bored if the project is the same time after time, and I am happiest when I have a variety of things on the go.
  4. Willingness to “take the plunge,” over and over again.
My willingness to take the plunge is legendary in my own mind. I took the plunge when in the midst of my addiction, I prayed to God for his help and guidance and I gave my life over to His control. I took the plunge when I decided to go back to school in my 40s after being a high-school dropout. I took the plunge when I started my first business is 2006. I took the plunge when I uprooted my family and moved back to Canada after a 30 year stint in the United States. I took the plunge when I started making and selling my own line of skincare products, again when I signed up to sell Travel, and yet again when I decided to sell some of the crafts I make.
  5. A delight in being busy with a variety of things.
The more I have on the go, the happier I am. I can work on a website in the morning, create a fabulous decorative display in the afternoon, cook a gourmet meal for dinner, and work on my novel in the evening. Here's what I have on the go right now:
  • Graphic and Website Design services
  • Writing, editing, proofreading services
  • Virtual Assistant Services
  • Decorative crafts for sale
  • Learning how to Grow My own Food
  • Recording bits of life for YouTube

So yes, I am a Multipreneur. God blessed me with an abundance of talents and abilities, and He encourages me to use them all. As I put my skills to work in the products and services I provide to an ever-growing list of clients, I find my raison d'être and my world is a more joyful place.

After all, isn't that what it's all about?
